We met up again with the kind Canadians at Jardin du Luxembourg. It was a beautiful breezy day and we finally rented some sailboats. Lillian was Denmark and Sylvia was Japan. Lillian loved it and spent the whole time running around the pond after her boat. Sylvia loved it at first, but grew tired quickly. Luckily she was cajoled into having a great time by many kind older kids and Canadian mothers (not me!)
There is a fenced in play area, which is very popular with my girls and for which you pay a fee to be admitted. This area of the jardin is meant for sunning, reading, and watching the boats quietly glide across the water.
After running after the boats in the hot sun, the Canadian children grew hot and found some shade and cool grass. Their manners were so uncouth that they not only sat on this grass, but they attempted some handstands. A police officer quickly came over and told them to cease and desist.
Lillian received some excellent birthday gifts from her Halifax LeBlanc cousins. The older girls were great teachers. The policeman is right on top of the kids; I had to really try to keep him out of the photo. The kids made sure they were away from everyone and I am not sure why he was worried. Perhaps he thought the dust might settle on those who were sunning. When the kids returned to the grass, the policeman followed and gave us a long speech about how because the grass was adjacent to the flowers, which could be smashed, the children could NOT sit there. He had definitely had enough of tourists and others who do not understand how things should be done.
