Pretty much everything we own is now in that shipping container and on its way to Ottawa (We hope!).
We have had a couple of crazy days. I am amazed by the efficiency and strength of the movers and very grateful for the kindness of our friends. There has been a lot of waiting around and, for the most part, the girls have been fabulous. The movers wrapped, boxed, and moved everything in one day. It was non-stop work.
Everything was moved out the window and down a ladder on a little elevator platform. It is how things are done here and it still seems crazy to me.
Pierre and I attempted to clean as the movers worked. The onus is on the renter to leave the apartment in great shape, and it is rare to get back all of your deposit.
That fridge also went down the ladder-- and luckily didn't fall and kill anyone.
Meanwhile, the girls were being well spoiled by my American Dad friend and his two daughters.
I can't compete with this.
Thankful for the longest playdate ever followed by dinner at their house (two different days!).
We moved to a temporary apartment and returned the next morning to finish cleaning. It is so strange to see this place empty.

Lil's first full fare ticket. Under tens can ride the bus and metro on a reduced fare ticket.
The girls' school is on this street.
The same friends fed us an amazing Korean meal, made with lots of toppings and thoughtfully took our vegetarian into account. The day we moved, one of my American friends from the girls' school had her third baby. I was so happy that I had the chance to meet him before we left Paris. We are now taking advantage of the time it will take our belongings to get back to Ottawa.
Now, we are in the lovely region of Auvergne. We hope it will stop raining so that we can enjoy some hiking. The scenery is spectacular.
It is so strange to say goodbye to our Paris lives. I am grateful for all of the friends we have made and the many experiences we have had.
