As soon as school let out for the holidays, we jumped on a plane and flew to Barcelona. Pierre is in full-on trip planning mode and trying to squeeze as much as possible out of our last months in Europe. We rented an apartment very close to La Sagrada Familia. The cathedral is considered Antoni Gaudi's masterpiece. It is still unfinished. There is one whole side that is still waiting for The Glory.
We arrived in the late afternoon, and after heading to the local grocery store and stocking our cupboards, we were ready to find some dinner. We realized that we would never be able to hold out until the regular Catalonian dinner time, so we looked for tapas.
The woman who worked for the rental agency suggested a place in the El Born part of town. It is a fun part of town with many shops and restaurants. The restaurant offered tapas as well as all sorts of other ethnic foods. There was something to make everyone happy...which is saying something. There were stands surrounding tables and you simple walked up and ordered whatever you wanted. We all enjoyed patatas bravas, basically French fries in square form served with hot sauce. I was so greedy that I gave the top of my mouth a good scalding. Pierre brought me this beer and I didn't even have to ask.
Many of the streets were strung with lights.

We watched a busker put on a magic show outside of Santa Maria del Mar.
We took the metro back to Sagrada Familia and to the super cool bunk beds in the apartment.
