Etretat and Honfleur

 We began the next morning at étretat. 

 Many artists, including Monet (above) came to these beaches to paint the cliffs, water, and arches.

 These two loved watching the waves

(which were quite big even thought it doesn't look like it in the picture).

 You could climb up to the tops of the different arches.  There was a fancy golf course near where we climbed.

We stopped for dinner in Honfleur.

Honfleur is a picturesque port that is popular with tourists.

In the 17th century, that Samuel de Champlain received orders to settle Canada. He left from Honfleur and he founded Québec. The orders of Louis XIV made the first settlements true Norman colonies. More than 4000 peasants settled and planted the land. Fishing, hunting and the fur trade flourished.
