Delphi, Greece

 

 The flight to Athens from Paris is about three and a half hours.  We arrived late, rented a car, and drove half way to Delphi.  This was the first of many uphill hikes.

 We began our visit at the Delphi Archaeological Museum.  The museum is located at the base of the site and holds many of the things that have been found there.

Bronze statue of the Charioteer, from the dedication by Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela of Sicily (478 or 474 BC).  It is preserved so well because it was once buried in an earthquake long ago.

Human figurines, either from the east or created under eastern influence (7th century BC)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We took the short walk back into town and found lunch before beginning our upward hike.  The scenery is amazing and it is obvious why they chose this spot.

 

I didn't even have one of these at lunch, but I thought it was cool they were called Mythos.
