Paris has put a lot of energy into making the banks of the Seine a nicer place to hang out. Les Berges (the riverbank) has lots of things to do, eat, and watch. Yesterday was the roll out of the city's bikes for kids, the Petit ' Vélib can be rented from a few spots in Paris on Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays. They have three sizes: no pedal coasters, little bikes with removable training wheels, and two bigger bikes for bigger kids. These rental areas are in places without cars, so that kids can actually ride. We thought that we would be able to rent them yesterday. Pierre even went out and bought Sylvia a helmet because she had outgrown the one we brought from Ottawa. Unfortunately, next week you can rent and this week you could only try them out. It was okay because there was a band and free snacks and plenty of else to do.
There were people timing kids running, games to play, and a playground.
Old shipping containers are used for all sorts of things. This one has free games you can borrow and play.
We returned to the enormous chalkboard where we had played with our (former) Ottawa friends. They are still our friends, but they no longer (sob!) live in Ottawa.
