Brownies and cupcakes

We had a busy Brownie weekend; Lillian had a special activity Saturday and a meeting Sunday.  Saturday the Brownies met at Sugarplum Cake Company.  Paris has caught the cupcake craze and there are several cupcake shops.  Sugarplum is like a traditional French salon de thé with an American twist--think classy Starbucks.  These talented ladies also make fancy cakes.

We are celebrating Juliette Gordon Low's birthday next month with a lot of other Daisy and Brownie troops.  Lillian's troop is focusing on money management and philanthropy this year.  They are going to sell cupcakes at the party in order to earn money to buy toiletries for the homeless.  Their leader had the girls price all of the toiletry items and decide what they should put in a kit.  They then figured out how much they should sell their cupcakes for and how many cupcakes they have to sell.

The ladies at the Sugarplum Cake Shop gave the girls a tour and  talked to them about running a business.  They also taught the girls how to frost cupcakes like a professional and how to use fondant to make extra fancy shapes.  I was very impressed with how much time and care the Sugarplums took with the girls.

This Brownie ate one of her cupcakes and took this lovely creation home to her sister. 

Lillian is a big fan of Brownies.
