Our big plan was to ride our bikes along the nice bike path running along the river to the Ettal Abbey
in the next town. Apparently, we were not meant to visit monasteries on this trip. Sylvia had not ridden a bike in over a year and was given a bike that was a bit big for her. She was very strong and remained very determined. I was proud! It took us a bit to get started and Lillian and Pierre sped ahead. We figured we would meet up with them eventually...but we never did. The path forked and we lost each other. Luckily, Pierre managed to borrow a cell phone and connect with me after Sylvia and I returned to the bike store. We all biked a lot longer than we had intended to and the girls were great sports.

Sylvia rode with me. The entire time she was yelling, "Faster! Don't brake!" Lillian went down all by herself. It was a big improvement on the Alpine Slide at Park City, Utah when I was a kid. Our kind hotel keeper gave us a card that made the bikes, the slide, and the swimming pool free! The pool was fantastic. It had inside and outside pools, hot and cold pools, and two water slides. It was perched up on the side of a mountain, so if you were outside in the hot pool you could relax and take in the view. We went twice.
