King Ludwig the German seals a document in "Hulma," creating the first official reference to Ulm on July 22, 854. The Minster spire, which is still the world's highest church spire today was completed in 1890.

The spire is 161.53 meters high and you must climb 768 steps to reach the top. We have climbed a lot of church towers and this one definitely felt a lot taller. There were quite big, open windows all the way up, which made it a little unnerving.

The Danube and the Blau rivers run through Ulm. More than 80% of the historic old town was destroyed during Allied bombing on December 17, 1944.
The Fisherman's Quarter is filled with narrow streets and bridges and makes up an important part of old town. This was advertised as the crookedest house in town.
Many of the old buildings bowed like this, which made finding the "crookedest" a challenge. I don't think I would like to stay at this hotel.
